The Most Honest, Ethical & Open Congress (ever)

The Club for growth news is reporting that the Democratic Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee David Obey (D-Wis.) is going to keep all earmarks (pork spending) out of the spending bills so the conservatives won’t have the opportunity orchestrate a grass roots effort to squelch them (so much for Democratic government).  This is to frustrate the likes of Jeff Flake’s (R-Arizona) effort last year to stand against earmarks embarrassing Democrats.

But don’t worry he will be re-inserting this pork spending into the conference report that will be immune from amendment and deliver all the pork he cares to order up.  I hope the President has his veto pen nearby.  And just think, this all while we were promised  “the most honest, ethical, and open Congress in history” by Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Isn’t this special……..?

Shady dealings for sure. Someone told me that even though this immigration bill is virtually dead, it might get stuck inside another bill when we are not looking, a spending bill. If they try that, it sucks.

Debbie, Nice to hear from you. Liked your site. I sure hope this (as you say above) doesn’t come to fruition. They’ll probably attach it to the next Iraq funding resolution and Bush won’t complain about “clean bill” this time. Hope not …….. steve

There really is no human difference between liberal and conservative congressmen or senators. They are the same beast within, whose shrill vocalizations are their only difference.
All they worry about is keeping their jobs, their private little “hideaways” deep in the halls of congress; protecting their priviledged lifestyles.

Do I hear a case for term limits here? ….. steve

Rep. Jefferson is saying that he is completely innocent, although his associates have already pled guilty in the same matter, the prosecution has a video of him accepting a bribe from an undercover agent, and 90 grand of oops-now-how-did-that-get-in-there? cash was already found in his freezer. Innocent until proven guilty. Ok, but it’s not lookin’ real good for Rep. Jefferson.
Good thing the noble Democrats came to save us from that nasty Congressional culture of corruption.

plodon, Yeah, and they are the ones that wanted to twist the country into believing all Republicans are corrupt, so let the show begin……………………. steve

good mornin my friend…I know this isnt a joke but it could be one right?..:)

Hi Angel, What Nancy is running over there now really is becoming a joke. I think she is painting herself in a corner trying to appease various polar groups in her little party. Wait till she either sits on disciplining William Jefferson and appeases the Black Caucas and causes problems with her pledge of open, honest and ethical …….. Or decides to discipline him and has the Caucas all over her where she could lose some control of their votes. This is the typical problem of both big mouth and big feet….. steve

    Hi mz,
If you look closely at ethical congress, you’ll notice that the space between them is unusually wide. This is due to the repulsion each has for the other 😉

Hi Grit, sort of like E=MC2 ?? ……steve

    Hi Steve,

    More like, P=MU1/2. In this equation, P = politicians, M = money, U1/2 = Under the Table.

Hi Grit, …………….You got me here, must be that “new math” thing……… steve
