My New Blog Address……….

liz-jj.jpg My daughter Elizabeth (Mommy Zabspictured here with her husband Jeff has changed my URL to http://nextstoplauderdale.com from https://stevereenie.wordpress.com.  She did this work as a Father’s Day Present.  She knew I really preferred nextstoplauderdale.com URL.  Since the banner name and preferred reference was Next Stop Lauderdale the wordpress domain caused some confusion.  I would greatly appreciate it if you would change your bookmarks, links & feeds and for those of you that have included me on your blogroll (I thank you) if you would change that to reflect my new address I would be greatly appreciative.

Some day I will add to my “about” page and try to explain the origin of the blog name “Next Stop Lauderdale” even though my winter home is in West Palm Beach.

Those Pesky Clinton Profits (what a country)

hillary-2.jpg  Oops, Hillary Clinton sold some stock recently that could cause her problems during the campaign if she had continued to hold those shares.  Wow, only in America is it a crime to own a particular stock when you are running for President but not to own that stock when you have merely declared your intentions to run for the nomination.  Lets see what she owned in part:

NewsCorp (Fox News)   Satan Himself

Biogen                             Big Pharmaceutical

Johnson & Johnson         Big Pharmaceutical

Amgen                             Big Pharmaceutical

Pfizer                               Big Pharmaceutical

Glaxo Smith Kline            Big Pharmaceutical

Wall Mart                        The Anti-Christ with Employee Abuses

These are creating millions in Capital Gains that will carry substantial Capital Gains Taxes that she has been able to avoid by not selling them previous to this [which is a complaint of many on the left which feel that “unrealized gains” (those only on paper not cash) should be taxes].  One thing from this is that now she will learn what the cost of Capital Gains Taxes are to her portfolio and hence their small share of contribution to economic growth in the country. Too bad she didn’t own some “Big Oil” since she has complained about them as much as she did in the 1990’s about the immoral profits of Big Pharmaceutical (just before she tapped into those profits after Bill left office).

At least she didn’t own any Halliburton.  But if Cheney is still guilty because he previously owned Halliburton shares (which he sold to avoid similar conflict of interest charges) isn’t it equally fair to charge that she is still guilty of illicit Pharmaceutical gains ……. even up till just recently when she just sold her “conflict of interest” shares?  You won’t hear as much about this from the “drive by media” and the left as you did about Cheney because it is a different ox being Gored.  Maybe we should demand that she contribute those ill begotten gains on Big Pharmaceutical to children’s relief.    STORY HERE

How Do We Identify the Terrorists?

american-jihad.jpg  Privacy and Civil Liberties organizations such as the ACLU are alarmed that the FBI terrorist watch list has swollen in excess of one-half million (that’s 500,000).  They are alarmed that it is “out of control.”  Based on the numbers alone they believe it is now ineffective because it is so large and many innocent people could be detained. Oooooh so sorry!  I’m an accountant, so let’s run the numbers.

The defenders of Islam as being a Peaceful Religion claim that the terrorists and their supporters are not representative of Islam and probably are a number south of 5% of their population.  Okay (not that I buy it) but since there are 1,000,000,000 (that’s one Billion) Muslims in the world, they have as much as admitted that there could be 50,000,000 terrorists and supporters.  Therefore based on numbers I would think that a “watch list” of a mere 500,000 would be woefully inadequate……….hmmm.  Story Here

Rudy’s Contract with America

giuliani.jpg  First of all, I am not personally endorsing Rudy, but he is a major candidate and has just made probably the most substantive and detailed proposal for the 2008 campaign by either party to date (I know that the Paul supporters will dispute this, so I will nod to that).  Rudy announced yesterday, Tuesday 6/12/07, his broad outline of 12 promises to America that I expect he plans to shape his campaign around.  I guess that these things if done would please some and displease others or some may be acceptable while others unacceptable.  I will look forward to how he expands these concepts to clarify just what they mean.  There are some that I am interested in, some that I need clarity on.  Off hand pending further detail I like 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9.  Although I don’t necessarily dislike 5, 7, 8, 10, 11 and 12 I’d like to know what he means by them.  I don’t believe that Rudy will find many if any of these items exclusive to his campaign.

  1. I will keep America on offense in the Terrorists’ War on Us.

  2. I will end illegal immigration, secure our borders, and identify every non-citizen in our nation.

  3. I will restore fiscal discipline and cut wasteful Washington spending.

  4. I will cut taxes and reform the tax code.

  5. I will impose accountability on Washington.

  6. I will lead America towards energy independence.

  7. I will give Americans more control over and access to healthcare with affordable and portable free-market solutions.

  8. I will increase adoptions, decrease abortions, and protect the quality of life for our children.

  9. I will reform the legal system and appoint strict constructionist judges.

  10. I will ensure that every community in America is prepared for terrorist attacks and natural disasters.

  11. I will provide access to a quality education to every child in America by giving real school choice to parents.

  12. I will expand America’s involvement in the global economy and strengthen our reputation around the world

Gore on World Terrorism & Saddam

al-gore.jpg  What a good week for videos.  This HERE at breitbart.tv is another must see where Al Gore is berating George HW Bush for failing to recognize the threat Saddam poses for the world with his support of terrorism, use of weapons of mass destruction and constant pursuit of nuclear weapons.  In this September, 1992 speech Gore condemns President Bush for “blatant disregard for brutal terrorism, a dangerous blindness to the murderous ambitions of a despot.”  This is another MUST SEE; however, some of your rabid Bush haters and Gore lovers might find this a bit tough to swallow.

Let me say that this does not prove anything about the current Bush administration whether he was right or wrong to enter Iraq.  It does go to show that the current (and constant) complaints from the left are merely political posturing to extricate any complicity on their part.  On the other hand it may well prove that even the young administration of George W. Bush had ample reason to believe that it was necessary to deal with Saddam given the then current realities of the United States being the target or Terrorism on a global basis.

This is just another example of the hypocrisy and disingenuous criticism from the left as they continue to call George W. Bush a liar concerning Iraq and Saddam.  Need I remind you of Public Law 105-338 titled the “Iraq Liberation Act of 1998″ supported by the Clinton/Gore administration in 1998 as well a multitude of other Democrats.  Again, be sure to link back and post your comments or I suppose complaints concerning how this is not relevant.  (I guess some may need a face saving path out)

Dennis Miller Goes Nuclear on Harry Reid (must see)

Well folks, it’s Miller time again.  We (Susan & Me) were up pretty late last night watching Fox News and Dennis Miller came on Red Eye with what I believe to be his BEST RANT EVER in the “The Buck Starts Here” segment.  He is going nuclear on Harry Reid with the prose that only Dennis Miller can deliver.  We just looked at each other with our jaws dropping when it was over.  I have imbedded a link to hotair.com so you can see this thing HERE.  It is only a couple of minutes long but a MUST SEE.  I might add that Reid’s “Approval” ratings have dropped to 17% according to Rasmussen, lower than either Bush or Cheney.  Don’t forget to link back and leave a comment of your take on this little gem.

P.S.  For those of you that don’t know, Harry Reid is the Democratic Majority Leader of the U.S. Senate.

Rorschach Test

What do you see in these contrails and clouds from the Shuttle Atlantis Launch June 8th, 2007?  This sort of reminds me of the Rorschach Inkblot Test.  Look forward to your response.

The Most Honest, Ethical & Open Congress (ever)

The Club for growth news is reporting that the Democratic Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee David Obey (D-Wis.) is going to keep all earmarks (pork spending) out of the spending bills so the conservatives won’t have the opportunity orchestrate a grass roots effort to squelch them (so much for Democratic government).  This is to frustrate the likes of Jeff Flake’s (R-Arizona) effort last year to stand against earmarks embarrassing Democrats.

But don’t worry he will be re-inserting this pork spending into the conference report that will be immune from amendment and deliver all the pork he cares to order up.  I hope the President has his veto pen nearby.  And just think, this all while we were promised  “the most honest, ethical, and open Congress in history” by Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Isn’t this special……..?

Get Out of Jail Free

Paris Hilton (against all odds and direct orders from the judge) is out of jail after spending 3 day at Hard Labor (ha).  I feel sorry for her, but not Al Sharpton.  He is already out there turning it into a racial issue.

He says she got out because she was white and rich.  He has been lamenting the time he was incarcerated because of a protest sit in and he went on a Hunger Strike.  The jailers sent Doctors in every day because of risks to his health, but he complains that they didn’t let him out for medical reasons. He says if she was a white coal miner’s daughter or a rich Hip Hop star she would still be in jail.  I wonder if it is possible that Rev. Sharpton has never heard of R. Kelly or is just lying for the dramatic effect and the opportunity to be racially divisive.

Rumor has it that the reason J. Jackson hasn’t weighed in on this yet is because he is negotiating with Hilton Hotels over a possible shakedown (I mean) boycott.

UPDATE 6/8/07 12:47AM: In late breaking new from AP after midnight on Friday morning the judge that put Paris Hilton in jail has ordered her back to court Friday morning to decide if she should go back behind bars.   Note the excerpts from the AP story below (this should make Rev. Sharpton happy and deflate Jesse’s hopes for a new Rainbow/Push sponsor):

Hours after she was sent home under house arrest Thursday for an undisclosed medical condition, the judge who put her in jail for violating her reckless-driving probation ordered her into court to decide if she should go back behind bars.

It is the city attorney’s position that the decision on whether or not Ms. Hilton should be released early and placed on electronic monitoring should be made by Judge Sauer and not the Sheriff’s Department,” said Jeffrey Isaacs of the city attorney’s office.

Hilton must report to court at 9 a.m. Friday, Superior Court spokesman Allan Parachini told The Associated Press.

“My understanding is she will be brought in a sheriff’s vehicle from her home,” Parachini said.

UPDATE 6/8/07 3:21 PM: This is something, Paris Hilton was sent back to jail and according to the AP report below must spend the ENTIRE 45 days.  This little furlough at home looks like it may have cost her another 20 days.

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Paris Hilton was taken from a courtroom screaming and crying Friday seconds after a judge ordered her returned to jail to serve out her entire 45-day sentence for a parole violation in a reckless driving case.

Who Won the Republican Debate

fred-thompson.jpg  Who Won, Fred Thompson of course?  But you say he wasn’t there.  Correct, that is why he won.  There were a lot of guys there and still you had to look and say I wish I had more choices.  Not that a number of them didn’t do well, it was just lacking something.  Therefore I think Fred won because he is brought to focus by the question “is that all our choices.”

Also yesterday he launched his own “exploratory” website called I’m With Fred.  It is basically a fundraising site, but we will probably know about his candidacy in July (i.e. 4th).

I read something recently that said that Fred Thompson would have the best performance in the Presidential Debates and that is really the “crunch” time, and I believe it is true.  It would be Thompson that could deliver a sobering dose of common sense to Hillary, Obama or Edwards in the Debates.  This guy may just have what it takes!
