Hamas Provokes Israel Again

israel-flag.jpg In the past 16 days the “Palestinians” (Hamas) in the Gaza strip have fired 310 Qassam missiles into Sderot, Israel as the Israeli Government continues with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert “strategy” of not approving the IDF’s (Israel Defense Force) request (demand) to allow ground troops to go into Gaza and put down this menace.  Wow, I guess the Palestinians should be happy that Olmert is the Prime Minster and not me.  It takes a lot of patience to not respond adequately and protect your own people.  This barrage of attacks has turned 23,000 residents of Sderot into virtual refugees which have fled the town.

This vacillation on Olmert’s part is reminiscent of his hesitance to do the right thing almost a year ago, which led to the embarrassment of the IDF last summer in Lebanon.  I think it might be time for him to go.

I predict this.  First, I doubt you have heard much about this in the mainstream media here in the good old USA, but when Israel finally decides to put a stop to it you will hear a lot about it in the media with every detail of collateral damage, etc.  They won’t mention that Israel is not “targeting” innocent civilians when they go in, just as they haven’t told you that the Hamas is doing just that.  You will also be shown how Israel is bullying the Palestinians (just like last year when they were accused of heavy handed tactics against Hezbollah).

To quote from the movie Patton, “Now I want you to remember that no bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country.”

I hope the Isralis come to their senses and dump that pansie of a PM soon, and then start dropping bombs on Hamas.

    bd, misi & Angel,

We’ll just have to keep our ears tuned to see where this is headed and what impact it will have on the Presidential (not the more powerful Prime Minister) election in Israel in June.

This is so dog bites man at this point.

Ok – so at what point are the actions of Hamas worth examining, at what point would this not be a “man-bites-dog story?” Everything Hamas does is working toward thier overall goals. You may have noticed, but Hamas can probably be grouped in with folks who don’t like Israel very much. Watch the videos at this site Hamas in it’s own words and note the feelings of the people are deeply ingrained. Look for the underlying themes. Do you suppose the attitudes these videos are representative of will be changed quickly by changing a charter or some such?

Hmm. Well, totaltransformation , I may have mistaken your point. I saw what my mind expected to see, and not what you actually wrote, and that could totally change the meaning of what you said. Oopsie.

Plodon, I think you misunderstood me. What I meant was that these stories happen all the time and so few show any concern for a real change in our policy toward groups like Hamas. We still try to buy them off. We still try to bargain with them. And as long as we do these kind of stories will be dog bites man stories- the same old thing. But when we (and Israel) finally get fed up and take these thugs out for good, that is when something significant and truly newsworthy will have finally happened.

stevereenie – As Bob Dylan said: “it aint me”. There may have been someone with the same username on this site before, but I just recently found NSL, thought it was kinda interesting, and attatched myself like an intestinal parasite. So – no back cuz I was never here before. Just didn’t want to be accidently impersonating someone else 🙂

This isn’t new news to me, but I have far left the mainstream media for my gathering of information. I leave that for my weather and that’s about all.
The media never tells the whole truth, it’s always one sided and always best if they leave anything good about the USA and Israel. They love to paint either one of those countries in a bad light.

barb, I have to laugh when the left smear the “non traditional” press and then defend the likes of Dan Rather and CBS, ABC, etc. I’ve will always take what the mainstream media says as suspect until proven otherwise. I get most of my information elsewhere myself………steve
